OPTION Nº 1

CITY TOUR + FORT BULNES + CEMETERY ( 7 hours)

 DESCRIPTION:

Punta Arenas is the capital of Chilean Patagonia and the starting point of numerous expeditions to the Antarctic continent. Founded in 1848 at the southern tip of the American continent, Punta Arenas was initially a penal colony and then became an important pole of inmigration for Europeans and people from Chiloé.

this tour, we will visit Cerro de la Cruz viewpoint, to enjoy the colorful sights of the city, the Strait of Magellan and Tierra del Fuego Island. Later, we will visit the Muñoz Gamero Main Square , the heart of Punta Arenas since the end of the 19th century, which has great activity and handicraft stalls where it is possible to acquire local souvenirs, as well as appreciate the monument to Hernando de Magallanes and the neoclassical buildings from the magnates of livestock from the past century.

The tour continues at the Maggiorino Borgatello Salesian Museum, one of the oldest museums in Chile, whose permanent exhibition offers collections of local flora and fauna, colonial artifacts, ethnography, Antarctica, cartography, industry, and pieces from the Salesian missions of the Dawson Island and Río Grande.

Before returning to the hotel, the tour also allows you to get to know the northern sector of the city and its monuments, such as “The Sheepherder”, the one dedicated to the Croatian immigrant and the Oil Statue.

Later we visit its main streets and avenues to appreciate the traditional Memorial Shepherd, the mansions of the suburbs and the Costanera Avenue, until the Regional Cemetery, where We will travel the streets of beautiful gardens and luxurious mausoleums.

Traveling to the South of the Brunswick Peninsula and arriving at the Strait of Magellan Park, is to take a trip through the natural and human history of the Strait of Magellan. The route skirts the mythical Strait, where it is possible to appreciate large numbers of sea birds as oystercatchers, wild geese, several species of ducks, cormorants, and on a lucky day, perhaps, dolphins and sea lions. The Park is located 60 kilometers south of the city of Punta Arenas and is currently newly renovated. Here, you´ll find attractions such as:

OPTION Nº 3

       ESTANCIA + SHEARING SHOW + LUNCH ( 6/7 hours)

***We require a minimum of 15 passengers***

 DESCRIPTION:

Estancia Olga Teresa dates back to 1920 and is still owned by members of the original owner’s family and is located approximately 49 miles to the Northwest of Punta Arenas in the charming community of Rio Verde.  The estancia offers visitors the opportunity to get to know about the Patagonian and "huaso" daily life and a bit about the history of the people from the Chilean Patagonia.

Upon arrival to the farm, be greeted by the charming owner/family and taken on a tour that highlights various activities of the farm. Chilean cowboys (Huasos) demonstrate their skill in rounding up a herd of sheep with their well-trained horses and dogs, and provide excellent photo opportunities by bringing the herd to a stop directly in front of the lucky visitor. Watch out for the amazing kelpie dog, who always entertains visitors with his speed and agility. A demonstration of sheep shearing will then be given in a barn.

A Pisco Sour drink will be served with delicious baked empanadas, prior to a typical barbecue luncheon of Patagonian lamb, grilled slowly for hours on stakes around the fire. There will of course be no shortage of good Chilean red wine and soft drinks to accompany the luncheon.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES "Not included in the rate"

1- In the rodeo arena, Huasos will show off their skills in rounding up and controlling young cows.

2- Visit a Condors colony: this is the largest condors colony in Chilean Patagonia which hosts an avarage of 50 condors during the year.

There is a walk of only 500 meters of flat land until we reach below the rock wall that serves as a roost for the condors. Researches will show then the condors using a powerful telescope. In addition, the project of preservation and research of condors lends the visitors a pair of professional quality binoculars.
